Following the 2019 San Francisco World Spirit Competition, where they received five double gold and three gold awards, Loch Lomond Group now boasts gold medals across both of their Single Malt core ranges.
Founded in 2000, the San Francisco World Spirit Competition recognises exceptional products in the spirits industry, with a judging panel made up of 40 industry experts who blind taste-test all products.
Scooping a total of 14 awards across Loch Lomond Whiskies, Glen Scotia and High Commissioner, stand outs include Glen Scotia 25 Year Old and Loch Lomond 12 Year Old which now have two double gold medals each.
Other expressions to receive this accolade are Loch Lomond 18 Year Old, Loch Lomond Signature and Loch Lomond 10 Year Old – the newest addition to the portfolio.
Double Gold is awarded to the entries that receive a Gold medal rating by all members of the judging panel; these are among the finest products in the world.
Gold awards are given to exceptional spirits that are near the pinnacle of achievement; these products set the standard for their categories. This years’ winners include: Glen Scotia Victoriana, Glen Scotia 18 Year Old and Loch Lomond Classic
High Commissioner also received silver for both High Commissioner Blended Scotch and the newly released High Commissioner 7 Year Old Blended Scotch. Other silver medal winners include Loch Lomond Reserve, Glen Scotia Double Cask, Glen Scotia 10 Year Old Peated and Loch Lomond 15 Year Old.
Speaking of the win, Master Blender Michael Henry said: “I am overwhelmed by the positive reaction our whiskies have received at this years’ San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Our unique distilling style and broad range of ages of liquid gives us the opportunity to create top quality whiskies and it is great this has been recognised by such a prestigious judging panel.
All of our core expressions from Loch Lomond, Glen Scotia and High Commissioner now have a Double Gold or Gold medal from San Francisco which is a huge achievement and I’m excited to showcase the new products we are currently working on.”
