Loch Lomond Group’s whiskies triumphed across a range of categories at the 2017 Berlin International Spirits Competition, winning 10 medals including seven prestigious gold awards. The group’s main distillery in Alexandria on the banks of Loch Lomond was named Scottish Single Malt Distillery of the Year while the Glen Scotia distillery was crowned Campbeltown Distillery of the Year. The Berlin International Spirits Competition, now in its fourth year, featured nearly 400 spirits from 20 countries around the world. Its trade-only judges make their decisions based on category and price. The group’s gold medal winners included its Loch Lomond Original, 12 Year Old Single Malt and Single Grain variants and its Glen Scotia Double Cask and Victoriana expressions. The independent distiller also received golds for its Loch Lomond Inchmurrin 12 Year Old and Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish. Colin Matthews, chief executive of Loch Lomond Group, said: “We’re thrilled that so many of our whiskies have been recognised by industry leaders. Our success is testament to our innovative production methods and the craftsmanship of our master distillers and our master blender, Michael Henry.” The full list of medals won by Loch Lomond Group at the Berlin International Spirits Competition is as follows: Overall Awards Scottish Single Malt Distillery of the Year – Loch Lomond Distillery Campbeltown Distillery of the Year – Glen Scotia Distillery Gold Medal Loch Lomond Original Loch Lomond Single Grain Loch Lomond 12 Year Old
