Loch Lomond Whiskies was honoured to produce five special edition single cask bottlings to celebrate the 100th anniversary of De Monnik Dranken.
Master Blender, Michael Henry, selected five identical single casks, the whisky from these were then finished in wine casks from: Viña Ventisquero (from Chile), Negro (from the Piemonte region in Italy), Phebus (from Argentina) and Bodegas Faustino (from the Rioja region in Spain). This resulted in 5 different Single Cask bottlings featuring whisky with classic Loch Lomond characteristics each with it's own unique finish from the individual wine barrels bringing the best of both worlds together.
Each cask was non-chill filtered and bottled at cask strength. The Loch Lomond Whiskyprovides gentle sweet pea notes at the start, then some tangy lemon juice, fresh cut barley, some pepper grinds with some spicy ginger and cinnamon notes at the end.
This single cask has been further matured in a Faustino Gran Reserva cask bringing a complex and elegant, wide, fruity and spicy note from the Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo grapes.
This single cask has been further matured in a Negro Barolo Serralunga d'Alba cask bringing withered rose, violets, forest fruits and a hint of spices from the Nebbiolo grapes.
This single cask has been further matured in a Phebus Malbec Reserva Mendoza cask bringing dark fruits, floral aromas giving a long finish with subtle tannins from the Malbec grapes.
This single cask has been further matured in a Ventisquero Grey Chardonnay wine cask bringing an elegant bouquet with notes of ripe tropical fruit intermingled with gentle mineral and citrus notes from the Chardonnay grapes.
All cask are exclusive to De Monnik Dranken and were officially launched at the 100th Anniversary Jubilee on Sunday 7th October in Oldenzaal.
