Art + Science = Loch Lomond Whiskies

Loch Lomond Whiskies premiers exclusive tasting event at this years' Whisky Fringe. Taking place at Mansfield Traquair in Edinburgh from Friday 9th August until Sunday 11th August, Loch Lomond Whiskies took over the exclusive event space at Whisky Fringe. In a private room on the mezzanie level, Loch Lomond Whiskies offered an exclusive 45 minutes tasting event which was offered to guests free of charge. The event, which saw over 140 guests over 12 sessions, was run by Loch Lomond Whiskies brand ambassador Ibon Mendiguren. The first half of the event was a full sensory experience where guests were free to visit four plinths which were set up in the style of an art gallery. Each plinth featured: a simple piece of artwork to view, a textile swatch to feel and an atomiser to smell. At this point guests were also given a dram of the corresponding malt and were then asked to write down any tasting notes they had identified. For the second half of the session Ibon took guests on a virtual tour of the Loch Lomond Whiskies distillery explaining the four stills and the flavours that come from each. With this information guests should then be able to identify which expression was represented at each plinth. As well as receiving a dram of Loch Lomond Whiskies The Open Special Edition on arrival, guests also had the opportunity to try some new make spirit along with a 2009 Inchmurrin single cask which was bottled for the event. The four drams featured on the plinths were: Loch Lomond 12 year old, Inchmurrin 12 year old, Inchmoan 12 year old and Loch Lomond 18 year old.
